Professional Development

The Academic Development Institute offers several workshops for teachers. Each session is based on sound educational
research, and is designed for practical, hands-on learning. Each 2 1/2-hour workshop includes a manual and CD of
practical tools for the teacher.

Topics Available

Targeted Learning
For elementary, middle, and high school teachers discusses alignment, individualization, classroom management,
interactive teaching, and assessment in a seamless system. Elementary and middle school versions stress individualized
instructional strategies strongly aligned to standards. The high school version stresses effective whole-class instruction
based on carefully aligned lesson plans.

Parent & Learning
For elementary and middle school teachers covers research on the role of parents in children’s learning and practical
tools for teachers to use to engage and communicate with parents.

Technology: Tools for Learning
For elementary, middle and high school teachers Covers use of the web and digital equipment to prepare dynamic lessons,
create a class website, use online student assessments, and find valuable teaching resources.

Cost

The cost per participant covers all materials.

Per workshop: $450.00
Per participant: $20.00
Location: In Illinois, workshop fee includes travel. Outside of Illinois, add travel costs.
